Despicable Me

My sister lovingly told me that I have been a “slacker blogger” lately.

It’s true.

We’ve just been away on vacation at Panama City Beach for a week and with all the shenanigans required to get us from point A to point B and back again, it has been a bit nutso.

Don't worry though. Nothing has changed... my children are still wild Indians.

Last night, I found the following popcorn kernel...

...In Mr. Jenkins' NOSE!!
And “found” is not the correct word since it was lodged beyond sight and was only “found” via violent sneezing, crying, snorting, wailing, etc...

Chilli has also been putting things in her orifices.

Last week I found a googly eye in her diaper.

I guess we dodged a bullet with that one. Thank goodness it just passed on through and didn’t get caught up somewhere inside.

Despite all this madness, we had a great time at the beach.

Yes... there is a Sonic cup in the background. Don't judge.

Mr. Jenkins eating a sandy naner (banana)

Sassy and one of the 50 + hermit crabs she collected. Thank goodness she practiced "catch and release" fishing guidelines.

Mr. Jenkins took a special liking to one of the decorative items at the beach condo. He was dragging it around with him everywhere... out on the deck, on the couch to watch a movie, up to the bedroom. At some point I realized that he was calling it “Despicable Me”

I think he thought it was Mr. Gru!

What do you think?
I think it is the nose.

Today I am headed up to Ohio for work. I have an extremely flexible job that I am blessed to do from home most of the time, but this is one of the weeks when I have to be away. I left all three kids with my awesome mother in law and sister in law.

Pray for them.

And if you think of it, pray for me. I am nervous to give my presentation... and I am missing my munchkins mucho. I have never been away from Chilli for more than 4 hours since she was born so I am having some separation anxiety.

At least I have my breast pump to console me.

'Fess up Friday

You can't leave them alone for 5 minutes...

Yes... I think he ate it.

It gives me the pee shivers.

I wish I had a picture of the tub after the bath.

Uber gross.

Uber.

.
.
.

I snapped this picture of Brent and two of his girls.
I love the look Chilli is giving Lola.

Bless. Lola needs a new home, a bath and haircut so badly.

My discipleship group has been reading Linda Dillow's book, What's it like to be Married to Me?: And other Dangerous Questions.

It is convicting my butt off.

I guess I have gotten so lost in Mommyland that don't even realize how out of whack my priorities have been. I have been treating my husband a lot more like a roommate and a co-worker than my beloved and friend.

"His mouth is full of sweetness and he is wholly desirable
This is my beloved and this is my friend"
Song of Solomon 5:16

Chapter two is titled, "What's it like to be my husband?" Now that is a dangerous question.

Have a good weekend my bloggy peeps...

If you feel compelled to comment, please do so on my blog directly if you can... although your posts on Facebook make me warm and fuzzy, seeing comments on my blog kinda makes me feel legit. ;)

'Fess up Friday... belated edition... as usual

A few moments from the week... Check out Kira's blog for other confessions.

We went apple picking with some friends on Thursday.

It was super fun!

We kinda had the place to ourselves, which made it even more enjoyable.

Some of the "extras" were not open (ie. the apple cannon, the hay ride, etc.). Even though the petting zoo was also supposed to be closed during the week, the older gentleman who met us at the entrance told us we could go see the animals...as long as we didn't let the goats out.

Which makes sense.

So, to the petting zoo we went, and the animals seemed happy enough to see us.
I like this picture of the goat eyeing the apple Brent is trying to hide from Mr. Jenkins.

There were also this huge, creepy albino turkey.

Creepy turkies aside, it was a really fun day.

Now to the 'Fess up component to the day:

Mr. Jenkins somehow got to the car without his shoes.

I fortunately found an extra pair in the car.

Unfortunately, they were his sisters.

Lookin' good Jenkie...
Lookin' good.

Did I mention that they were sparkly, glittery, bright pink Sassy shoes!?

*sigh*

I hope I have not scarred him for life.

.
.
.
.
.

The outfit of the week goes to...

Sassy...
Here she is in her Kanga costume with a pile of bunnies. I, unlike the Lumberjack's Wife to not have any real bunnies. Thank God.
.
.
.
.
.

I do however have a huge mess to clean up.

I found this in our laundry room today.

Oh. My. Word.

At first I thought I was going to have to sell Mr. Jenkins on Ebay. However, I then realized that the blasted detergent had fallen off the shelf all by its dadgum self and the Jenkie boy was not responsible.

I have never seen anything like it.

It was as if the contents were pressurized. It somehow managed to get all over the walls.

When I saw it this morning, I took out my phone and took these two pictures.

Then I closed the laundry room door and walked away.

So, question for you...If laundry detergent falls in the laundry room and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

The answer is yes.

Well... technically someone was around to hear it.

When I told Brent about the fiasco he said, "Oh, that was the noise I heard at 2 am. I thought one of the kids fell out of their bed so I got up to check on them. They were in their beds so I waited at the top of the stairs to listen in case there was someone in our house."

I kinda wonder if he looked in the laundry room and had the same reaction I did... just closed the door and walked away.

I must publish this post and go and clean the disaster... but surely I can find something else to do so I can avoid the inevitable.

I just don't even know where to start. I mean, its gobs and gobs of concentrated soap that has run underneath my washing machine, and clothes baskets and into the nooks and crannies of the room.

If I sop it up with towels, then what do I do with those towels? If I put them in the wash I am afraid that the suds will overtake us!

*sigh*

I must go and face it.

You better pray for me.

You better.

Bread... in a can.

So what if it is Monday.

Just consider me fashhionably late to the 'Fess up Friday post! :)

Check out Kira's blog to read things that others posted in a timely manner.

We went to the park this weekend. When we arrived, there was a little boy playing on the slide. Sassy was excited to see a new "friend." He was a darling little boy with sandy hair and glasses. He also had some sort of bandage covering his eye. Upon seeing this, Sassy yelled:

LOOK MOMMY! THAT BOY IS A PIRATE!

Awesome.

Could you say it a little louder please?

.
.
.
.
.

I saw something disturbing at the grocery today.
Things to note:
1. Bread... in a can.
2. It was in the canned bean section.
3. The brand name is B&M.
    That is unfortunate.
Don't you think the owners could have agreed to let the guy with the last name starting with "M" be listed first?
4. Bread... in a can.
5. Raisin bread? Why raisin bread? Do they make other varieties? I hope not.
6. Bread.... in a can.

My daughter has reverted to being a tiny infant. You know she has a propensity for wearing clothing that is not her size.

But she has now started sitting in the feeding chair I have for Chilli. I keep trying to remind her that she is 4 years old now.

But alas, at the park, she climbed into 'licious' stroller to eat a snack.

Ridiculous.

I know I should regulate on this...

I guess I am picking my battles.

Mr. Jenkins wins outfit of the week.

You may not be able to tell, but the yellow shorts are actually OVER a pair of pjs that he was still wearing around lunch time.

The boots really pull the whole the whole outfit together, dontcha think?

Please pay no attention to the 4 year old on the couch who is sneakily sucking her thumb.
*sigh*

I know, I know... I may need to fight this battle. For the sake of her teeth and our savings account.

I leave you with this... this short video of Mr. Jenkins eating ice cream...

God's got huge ears

Some Funny Observations from this week:

Sassy: Mommy, can God hear us when we are talking in the car?
Me: Yes he can. God is everywhere.
Sassy: Wow. God must have really huuuuuuge ears.

.
.
.
.
.

Look! We're at the beach again

Actually the kids were just playing in the long jump sand pit at the church.

I'm sure the school/church appreciates that.

.

My son is a crazy man.

After hiding my cell phone today, he proceeded to apply his sister's play/dress-up makeup to his face...

...and our new couch.

Awesome.

Whilst I was cleaning up the couch he got into a box of bubble gum.

He was chewing no less than 4 pieces when I discovered him.

As I tried to coax him to me in hopes of getting him to spit out the massive wad of gum, he compliantly placed the nearly empty box back in the drawer while drooling profusely from the mouth and saying, "sothy muh-muh" (translation - Sorry Mama).

In case you are wondering, he did not relinquish the gum in his mouth.

He swallowed it.

Yay.

It was only a few hours later when I found him with the window grid from our guest room window. Clearly he is feeling no ill effects from having swallowed a wad of bubble gum.

Seriously though... if you think of it... will you pray? I remember being told as a child how horrible it is to swallow gum... I mean, I kinda feel like it was a gross exaggeration to keep my from you know... swallowing my gum...but I am sure it isn't a healthy thing to digest (hopefully) that much.

*sigh*

.
.
.
.
.

I asked my kids if they wanted to go and get bagels for breakfast (thanks a lot Mrs. Bone... you have me addicted to that bagel place just as you predicted... I hope you're happy).

Unfortunately, it became clear to me that my children thought bagels were donuts.

So, instead of correcting them...

I took them to the donut shop.

Once again, thanks a lot Mrs. Bone, as you are responsible for the donut shop introduction as well.

Here they are...sucking all the chocolate off...

And picking a nose.

That's my boy.

We have a busy weekend, so I may link this up as my 'Fess up Friday... especially now that I see it is a mere 3 minutes until Friday.

Wow... early for the 'Fess up... now that's a first!

'Fess up Friday

It's that time again...

I'm exhausted tonight, so quite honestly its a miracle that I am posting on actual 'Fess Up Friday...

After all, you know my tendency toward Procrastination Saturday, or as 'licious suggested, Slacker Saturday!

Anywho... Here are a few tidbits from the week that you might or might not find entertaining.

As I've mentioned previously, it's been hot in these parts. I know, I know, we had that cold front that brought the temps down into the high eighties... but despite this Arctic blast, it was in fact hot and humid today and so the kids and I headed to the fountain park to stay cool.

Of course on the way, we make the requisite stop for beverage to sustain us in the blazing heat.

Sonic!
Holla!

I got my tea and a small tot for the kids to share. They tore through them pretty fast and I was a bit annoyed that they were begging for more and we weren't very far down the road. When I arrived at the park, I discovered this.

Apparently, Mr. Jenkins spilled a majority of the tots into Chilli's lap.

Poor baby... she puts up with a lot from her sibs.

But she was clearly not disturbed and slept soundly through the incident.

Love dem chunky legs!

Once we got to the fountains, we met up with 'licious and her kids. The kids had a great time stealing the toys of other children whose mothers actually brought things for them to play with splashing, running, and giggling in the spray.

The boys got a little tuckered out and had to take a break.

Look at the little Sonic lovers.

No worries, today it was just sonic ice and water.

Mr. Jenkins may or may not have had a few sips from the dregs of my tea.

I can neither confirm nor deny this.

.
.
.
.
.

I caught my kids watching Curious George like this one day this week.

They were so dang cute, I didn't even get on to them for lying on the coffee table.

Don't judge.

.
.
.
.
.

The outfit of the week goes to Mr. Jenkins this week.
Well, technically, he is lacking the "outfit" part of this phrase, but the chocolaty face and boots won him the prize for "best dressed". Please also note orange, admission arm band from the splash park we went to a few weeks ago. He finally let me take that sucker off yesterday!

.
.
.
.
.

Well, that's about all I've got for this week. I hope you guys have a good weekend! Make sure to check out Kira's blog to read some other confessions that are certainly more witty (and inspiring in Kira's case) this week.

'Fess up Friday

Hello Bloggy Peeps... Hope you've had a good week! Here is the weekly confessional!

Don't forget to check out Kira's blog for more hilarious 'fess ups.

Do you people know about this?

I admit...
I have been a fan of the Batter Blaster for some time.

I initially mocked its existence thinking it to be yet another highly processed convenience food.

And, it probably is, but at least it is organic!
It really is organic... isn't that weird?!

Plus, it's not like I am a health nut by any stretch... you have heard me mention my Sonic addition have you not? You know that ain't nuthin' but some liquid sugar (with extra ice of course).

Anyway, I was at the grocery this week and found the chocolate variety... I can't wait to try it! I can't wait for the kids to try it!
.
.
.
.
.
Outfit of the week:
This is a hard one to chose...
Oh wait, no it's not.

Things to note:
1. Wearing PJs.
2. More specifically, wearing her brother's PJs
3. Wearing Tickle Monster Gloves... on all four "paws"

Yes, we are very silly.
.
.
.
.
.
I took Sassy to get her hair cut today.
She loved it.

Guess who did not love it.
Do not be fooled by my smile.

I am crying on the inside.

Also, for those of you who have begged me to NOT cut the boys fuzzy locks... rest assured.

No cutting took place.

One would have to be still in order for that sort of thing to occur.

My friend Mrs. Bone suggested that perhaps the Jenkie boy could be tamed if only his hair was cut. Maybe like Samson lost his strength when his hair was cut, Jenkie would lose his crazy if he received a trim.

It was a tempting idea, but alas, the crazy prevailed and he is no less hairy... and certainly no less crazy.

Oh Mr. Jenkins... once again, it is a good thing you are cute.

'Cause you sure are naughty.
.
.
.
.
.

Recent conversation with Sassy -
Sassy: I'm a person who is supposed to give gifts and then hide behind walls.
(Please do not ask me what this means... I am just as lost as you are)
Me: Hmmmm, that's interesting. Why?
Sassy: Because Jesus made me that way.

If we could only all be so sure of our calling in life.

Happy Friday!
(Oh and by the way, are you so proud of me for actually posting on Friday?!)
